Responsibility

We share information openly and involve the people that need to know.

Welcome to Halton Region!

Employing more than 2500 staff, the Region prides itself on being an employer of choice. We recognize that starting a new job brings about excitement and new challenges. In order to get you started on the right foot, we believe it is important to provide you with information that will help you to transition into your new role.

By now you should have received your offer letter. To complement that package, you will be required to participate in an interactive orientation program. The program will give you a greater understanding of the Region including:

  • General Overview of the Region
  • Health & Safety
  • Workplace Harassment & Discrimination Prevention Policy
  • Violence in the Workplace Policy
  • Meeting your union representative (where applicable)

In addition, during your first week with the Region, you will be invited to a meeting with a Human Resource Services representative to complete the necessary paperwork for payroll and benefit enrolment purposes. You should remember to bring the following with you on your first day:

  • Void Cheque
  • Social Insurance Card
  • Driver’s License
  • Police Security Clearance (where required)
  • Driver’s Abstract (where required)
  • Medical testing results (where required)

You should coordinate your arrival time and hours of work with your hiring manager or supervisor. The Region expects that all staff maintain a professional appearance and you should consult with your supervisor to discuss appropriate work attire based on the requirements of your position.
