Assisted Living (Supportive Housing)

Halton Region offers an Assisted Living program which provides personal support by qualified staff, which can include, but is not limited to:

  • Personal care including showering
  • Dressing/undressing
  • Assistance with pre-measured medication
  • Reassurance
  • Safety checks

Those who qualify for personal care services may also be eligible for:

  • Light housekeeping
  • Laundry
  • Assistance with meal services

Assisted Living is delivered on a frequent service basis averaging 1.5 hours daily. Clients are required to have a monthly emergency response system for staff to answer urgent requests for service 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Eligibility

If you live in Halton and are a senior who requires personal care assistance/support for daily living activities you may be eligible for the Assisted Living program. Eligibility is determined through a Community Health Assessment. Applicants must be able to direct and participate in their own care.

Is there a fee?

There is no charge for the personal support services, however it is required that all Assisted Living clients be connected to an Emergency Response System (external link) at your own cost. At Wellington Terrace in Burlington the Terrace Café is available to all tenants in the building for lunch and dinner meals. Customers pay for all meals eaten in the Terrace Café.

Professional Services

All professional services (E.g., nursing, physiotherapy, etc.) are provided through the Community Care Access Centre (external link). (CCAC). Call 310-CCAC (2222)

The Support Services Coordinator for the Assisted Living Program and the CCAC Case Manager work closely together to ensure that the seniors' needs are met.
