ROPA 43 – HPBATS/GTA West Corridor Protection

Background

The purpose of Regional Official Plan Amendment (ROPA) No. 43 is to:

  • Implement a corridor protection area and policy to protect for the Halton Peel Boundary Area Transportation Study / Greater Toronto Area West Corridor Study Area through the Towns of Halton Hills and Milton until the completion of the GTA West Corridor Environmental Assessment study.
  • Re-phase certain employment lands in the Town of Halton Hills that are impacted by the corridor protection area

Adoption

On June 18, 2014 Regional Council adopted ROPA 43 and issued By-law 55-14 – A By-law To Adopt Amendment No. 43 to the Official Plan for the Halton Planning Area to Implement the Halton Peel Boundary Area Transportation Study / Greater Toronto Area West Corridor Protection. A ROPA 43 Notice of Adoption was issued on June 24, 2014.

Appeals to the Ontario Municipal Board

On June 18, 2014 Regional Council adopted ROPA 43 and the last day for appeal to the Ontario Municipal Board was July 14, 2014. Two appeals were received and can be viewed below:

Public Consultation

  • Statutory Public Meeting
    On Wednesday May 21, 2014, Halton Region held a Statutory Public Meeting as required by the Planning Act to hear public concerns regarding the proposed amendment to the Regional Official Plan.
  • Public Open House
    Halton Region and the Town of Halton Hills held a Public Open House on May 7, 2014 at Pineview Public School in Halton Hills. It gave interested residents and property owners the opportunity to view information, ask questions, and provide comments to Halton Region and Halton Hills staff.
