Description of Limehouse Loop

Park at Andrew’s Scenic Acres/Scotch Block Wineries (external) where you can pick your own fruit or try one of their renowned fruit wines. Head off on your 60 km journey into the pastoral farmland of Halton Hills and make your way to the Village of Limehouse where limestone was quarried and burned in limekilns from the early 1840’s. The Limehouse Conservation Area (external link) is a beautiful spot to take a break and also provides access for hikers to the Bruce Trail (external link). Ride back along Side Road 15, the most popular cycling road in Halton.

Description of Leather Town Spinn

This 37 km route begins along the rural roads of Halton Hills (external), cycling across the top of the Region and into downtown Acton (external). The historical home of the tanning industry, which first began here in 1844, "Leathertown" boasts Canada’s largest leather store (external). The ride ends in the pretty hamlet of Glen Williams on the northern edge of Georgetown where you will find the Williams Mill Visual Arts Centre, two picturesque historic buildings that house the studios of over thirty accomplished visual artists. It’s worth the ride to Acton!

Description of Tour de Trafalgar

From outside Halton, take your bike on the GO Train or use the convenient parking at the Oakville GO Station. Head up through the heart of the former Trafalgar Township (external), named back in 1806 after Cape Trafalgar where Horatio Nelson led the English fleet to victory. Cycle west across Lower Base Line, acclaimed by cyclists as one of the finest cycling roads in the Region. Leave some time at the end of your 40km ride to enjoy the dynamic dining, shopping and cultural heritage of downtown Oakville (external).

Description of Velodrome Vista

Start at the Mattamy National Cycling Centre (CISCO Milton Velodrome during the Pan Am Games in 2015), a distinctive landmark set below the iconic Rattlesnake Point, which is also home to both the Ontario Cycling Association and Cycling Canada’s Track Program. This 50km route abounds with memorable scenery and postcard views. Cycling along Walker’s Line brings you close to the impressive rock face of the Niagara Escarpment. Take another moment on Sixth Line to enjoy a magnificent panoramic vista looking south across to the slopes of Kelso’s Glen Eden Ski Area (external).

Halton’s First Nations Heritage is richly celebrated at the Crawford Lake Iroquoian Village (external). This 45km route explores the north west portion of Halton, home to superlative cycling on roads that are less frequently used by cars. Description of Escarpment View

Breathtaking views of rich agricultural land and the Niagara Escarpment are everywhere on this 31km route. Park at the Mattamy National Cycling Centre (Milton Velodrome) then head over to Bell School Line and down into beautiful rural Burlington. Cycle under the impressive rock face of the Escarpment on Walker’s Line. You’ll eventually wind your way back up to the Village of Kilbride, the home of a General Store that has operated in the village since 1866.

Description of Lakeshore Fondo

A classic Halton “big ride”, the Lakeshore Fondo is an exploration of both city and country. The 70km route takes you across the shore of Lake Ontario westbound from enchanting Oakville (external) through the beautiful, lakeside City of Burlington (external), the geographic centre of the Golden Horseshoe. Enjoy the climb up the Escarpment into the beautiful Victorian Village of Waterdown. Head back to Oakville through the rolling rural country roads of First Line and Lower Baseline, two top favourites of cyclists in the area.
