The Halton Region Citizens’ Reference Panel

Halton Region is holding a Civic Lottery to find 36 local residents to form the 2015 Halton Region Citizens' Reference Panel.

During each new term of Council, Halton Region develops a strategic work plan to set out the priorities for the next four years of Council. In 2010, the first Halton Region Citizens’ Reference Panel was formed and provided valuable feeback in shaping the 2010-2014 plan. Members of the 2015 Panel will once again help to determine which issues, services and programs matter most to the people who live and work in Halton.

Invitations to enter the Civic Lottery have been delivered to 10,000 randomly selected households in the Region. Of those residents who volunteered to serve on the Citizens’ Reference Panel a final 36 will be randomly selected for age, gender, and population distribution.through a lottery process. In this way, the Citizens’ Reference Panel will be broadly representative of Halton Region.

The Citizens’ Reference Panel will meet for meet for three days in January 2015 to help develop recommendations for the 2015-2018 Strategic Action Plan shaping the work of the next term of Council.

The contribution made by Panel members will help strengthen Regional services, including public health and emergency medical services, children and seniors’ services, affordable housing, Regional roads, heritage and culture, and waste and water management.

The deadline for interested residents who received an invitation in the mail to enter the Civic Lottery is January 7, 2015.
