2013 HaltonParents and Parenting Campaigns Indicator Report

Purpose of the Health Indicator Report

To provide information on the awareness of parenting campaigns and HaltonParents among adults aged 18 and over in Halton Region who have at least one child under the age of 17 living at home.

Key Findings

Overall Findings

  • In 2013, 44%(±5) of parents in Halton reported being aware of any parenting campaigns, and 13%(±3) reported being aware of HaltonParents.
  • In 2013, 4%(±2) of parents in Halton reported being aware of the HaltonParents website.

Sex

  • In 2013, female parents [51%(±6)] in Halton were more likely than male parents [33%(±8)] to report being aware of any parenting campaigns. This difference was statistically significant.

Age

  • In 2013, there were no statistically significant differences by age in the percent of parents in Halton who reported being aware of any parenting campaigns or HaltonParents.

Municipality

  • In 2013, there were no statistically significant differences by municipality in the percent of parents in Halton who reported being aware of any parenting campaigns or HaltonParents.

Income

  • In 2013, Halton parents in the low [43%(±11)] and middle income group [51%(±8)] were more likely than parents in the high income group [36%(±9)] to report being aware of any parenting campaigns, however these differences were not statistically significant.
  • In 2013, there were no statistically significant differences by income in the percent of parents in Halton who reported being aware of HaltonParents.

Education

  • In 2013, parents in Halton who were post-secondary graduates [46%(±5)] were more likely than parents who were not post secondary graduates [34%(±12)] to report being aware of any parenting campaigns, however this difference was not statistically significant.
  • In 2013, 15%(±4) of parents in Halton who were post-secondary graduates reported that they were aware of HaltonParents.

Age of Children Living in the Household

  • In 2013, there were no statistically significant differences by the age of children living in the home in the percent of Halton parents who reported being aware of any parenting campaigns or HaltonParents.
