Sponsor, donate or volunteer to help Syrian newcomers

From sponsoring an individual or family, to making a donation of clothing, supplies or money, to volunteering your time to assist newcomers, there are plenty of ways to welcome Syrian newcomers and help them resettle in Halton.

Become a sponsor

  • Faith-based organizations: Many faith-based organizations from across Halton are helping to coordinate the efforts of local residents to sponsor families. Connect with your local place of worship (i.e., church, mosque, synagogue, temple, etc.) to find out more about how you can help.
  • Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC): For information on how you can sponsor a refugee see CIC’s Private Sponsorship of Refugees Program (external link).
  • Lifeline Syria: You can connect with Lifeline Syria (external link) to help sponsor a family. Lifeline Syria is a community-based initiative that is helping to recruit, train, and match private refugee sponsors in Ontario with Syrian refugees approved for resettlement by the federal government. Sponsors include organizations, individuals, or groups of individuals such as faith-based groups.

The Ontario government has provided seed funding to Lifeline Syria to support its work but it is reliant on public donations to fulfill its mandate. For more information or to make a donation please connect with Lifeline Syria by:
