The Halton Region Health Department will be offering 2 information sessions on November 16, 2017:

  • Public swimming pool safety (9 a.m. - 12 p.m.)
  • Regulated and non-regulated water facilities (9 a.m. - 4 p.m.)

Registration deadline is November 15.

Program Information

Public swimming pool owners and operators

This half-day (9 a.m. - 12 p.m.), classroom-style session will provide information on the following:

  • Public health legislation and regulations related to public swimming pools
  • Prevention of illness, accident and injury at your facility
  • Swimming pool operation and maintenance
  • Swimming pool water chemistry
  • Safety equipment
  • Emergency procedures
  • Safety supervision

Public swimming pool, public spa, public wading pools and splash/spray pad owners and operators

This full-day (9 a.m. - 4 p.m.), classroom-style session will provide information on the following:

  • Public health legislation and regulations related to public swimming pools, public spas and non-regulated recreational water facilities (i.e. wading pools, splash/spray pads)
  • Prevention of illness, accident and injury at your facility
  • Water facility operation and maintenance
  • Water facility chemistry
  • Safety equipment
  • Emergency procedures
  • Safety supervision

  • To prevent illness and injuries associated with recreational water facilities.
  • To increase your knowledge on the safe operation and maintenance of recreational water facilities.
  • To learn more about recreational water facility regulations and guidance documents, to ensure bather safety.

Session fee:

$25.00 per participant

Note: This course will not result in operator certification, but attendees will receive a certificate of attendance upon completion of the session.
