Oral health is a key part of your child’s overall health and well-being.

Here are some tips to help you ensure your child has healthy, strong teeth to last a lifetime:

  • Brush your teeth at least twice a day
  • Floss your teeth daily
  • Eat healthy foods
  • Have regular dental checkups

In addition, a healthy diet is very important for good oral health.

Eating healthy foods will help reduce tooth decay and gum disease. To ensure a healthy mouth:

  • Follow Eating Well with Canada's Food Guide (external link)
  • Limit eating snacks high in sugar or starch
  • Limit drinks that contain sugar
  • Drink water
  • Eat sugary foods only when you are able to brush your teeth
