What is oral thrush?

  • Oral thrush is a yeast infection that appears as white creamy patches or small red dots on the tongue, roof of the mouth, gums or throat.

How can I take care of my mouth if I have oral thrush?

  • You should consult with your dentist or physician if you suspect you may have oral thrush.
  • Oral thrush should be treated with an anti-fungal medication, which can be prescribed by a dentist or physician.
  • A follow up appointment may be required if the infection does not clear up completely.
  • To prevent re-infection, always use a new toothbrush and /or denture toothbrush at the beginning of anti-fungal treatment and discard it once treatment is finished.
