Smart Commute

Travel Demand Management (TDM) is one solution to help reduce traffic congestion, travel times and pollution.

The goal of TDM is to try to reduce the number of single occupant vehicles traveling during peak congestion periods using an alternate mode of transportation.

Alternate modes considered under the umbrella of TDM include walking, cycling, carpooling, using public transit, or adopting flexible work arrangements.

Smart Commute External link is a partnership between the cities and regions of the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area and Metrolinx that began in 2004.
