On November 16th, 2011 Regional Council approved a new ten-year Halton Region Economic Development Strategy (Halton Region Economic Development Strategic Directions 2012-2021 (821KB), followed by an Implementation Plan ( 231KB) in December 14, 2011 which will guide Halton Region Economic Development, in partnership with its Local Municipal partners in Burlington, Halton Hills, Milton and Oakville in the fulfilment of the Region’s Vision for economic development by 2021.

The Economic Development Strategy Implementation Plan introduces actions for Halton Region Economic Development over the 2012-2021 timeframe which are directly aligned with The Citizen’s Priorities - Halton Region’s 2011-2014 Action Plan and Halton’s Employment (Job Creation) distribution as set out in Regional Official Plan Amendment (ROPA) 38 and ROPA 39 Regional Phasing to 2021.  Introduced in the Implementation Plan are targets and performance measures that address both the activities and the outcomes related to Halton Region Economic Development’s responsibilities and actions in economic development service delivery.

Strategic Implementation Plan: 2012 Progress Report

According to a report presented to Regional Council on March 27, Halton Region's Economic Development Strategy is on track, with all 50 actions scheduled for 2012 complete.
