The Inter-Municipal Advisory Committee on Sustainability (IMACS) has a mandate to provide leadership in guiding sustainability in Halton, facilitate the coordination of best practices, and identify emerging sustainability initiatives in Halton.
The Committee’s work is intended to advance sustainability initiatives in the Region including providing direction on the development of a decision-making "Sustainability Lens" for Halton Region, as well as supporting the mandates of local committees.
The membership of the committee is unique, consisting of representation from elected regional and local councillors, senior staff from all member municipalities, and citizen representatives from each of the local municipalities.

The intent was to identify sustainable practices which could provide the basis for common standards across the Region. This document is considered the baseline for sustainability initiatives in Halton municipalities.
