Youth Entrepreneur programs in Halton are delivered in partnership with the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade .
Halton Region Small Business Centre has business planning and other business start-up resources to assist youth who are applying for these programs. A Business Consultant is also available to provide resources to area teachers and conduct in-class presentations on youth entrepreneurship and other business topics.
The Canadian Youth Business Foundation (CYBF) is a national charity providing pre-launch coaching, business resources, start-up financing and mentoring to help you start your own successful business. If you are 18-34 and have a business idea, CYBF can help!
The Halton Region Small Business Centre is the local community partner for the CYBF in Burlington, Halton Hills, Milton and Oakville.
CYBF is dedicated to supporting you throughout your entrepreneurial journey. They provide start-up financing of up to $15,000 for young entrepreneurs. Additional financing is available through other CYBF services for a total of up to $45,000. CYBF supports businesses of all kinds – skilled trades, technology, retail, services, and everything in between. CYBF provides financing based on character and a great business plan. Plus, every entrepreneur is hand-matched with an experienced business mentor for a minimum of two years to allow knowledge sharing and ensure a higher business success rate.

The Business Plan Competition gives Halton secondary school students an excellent opportunity to explore the world of entrepreneurship. Students can submit a business plan for a real business they intend to start, or just an idea for one. Entries can be submitted by individual students or a group with a maximum of 3 students. The entries will be judged by a panel of program sponsors and business leaders according to a set of guidelines (53KB). Each school can enter a maximum of 5 business plans. This competition is offered through a partnership and sponsorship by RBC Royal Bank. Prizes in this year's competition include:

Applications for Summer Company 2012 are now being accepted. The application deadline is May 7, 2012, or sooner if the program reaches capacity. The Summer Company program provides hands-on business training and mentoring to help enterprising students between the ages of 15-29 start and run their own summer business. Successful applicants receive up to $1,500 in the spring to help with business start-up costs, and up to $1,500 in the fall upon successful completion of their Summer Company experience. The Small Business Centre co-ordinates the program locally, and delivers it with the help of volunteer business advisors from the community.
