EvenStart Program


What is the EvenStart program?

  • The EvenStart Program is a half-day (2.5 hours) summer program that runs for 4 weeks.
  • It is a program for children who have not been to nursery school, preschool or child care.
  • EvenStart helps to prepare children for the daily routines and structure of the kindergarten classroom.
  • It promotes a positive transition into kindergarten by further developing the social and literacy skills of children.

Program information

  • Friday July 14, 2017 – Meet and Greet (1 hour)
  • Program runs daily for 4 weeks: Monday July 17 - Friday August 11, 2017 (there is no program on the Civic holiday - Monday August 7, 2017)
  • Morning programs run for 2.5 hours ( afternoon programs may run in select schools)
  • There is no cost for the program
  • Application required to attendPreschoolers

Locations

  • EvenStart program sites will be in select elementary schools in Burlington, Oakville, Milton, Georgetown and Acton.
  • Decisions regarding specific locations are made based on applications received.
  • You will find out the school location if your child is accepted into the program.

Applications

  • You must first register your child for kindergarten at any school.
  • At the school you will receive a Ready, Set, GO! package which will contain the EvenStart brochure, and a link to the application form which can be completed online (schools will have paper copies available as well if you do not have access to a computer).
  • Deadline to apply: March 31, 2017. We do not accept late applications.
  • You will receive a letter sometime in late May or early June letting you know if your child has been accepted into the EvenStart program.
