What is Walk This Way?

Walk This Way is a self-help kit designed to help women and men from age 20 and over become more active by building walking into their daily lives. Walk This Way includes tips on:

  • how to set your goals
  • how to build walking into your daily routine
  • proper walking shoes and clothing
  • stretches to do after you walk
  • pedometers (step counter)
  • walking in different types of weather
  • general safety when walking

The kit also contains a reusable laminated calendar to plan and record your walking activities.

Why is it important for me to do some walking everyday?

Walking for 30 minutes a day at a quick pace, 4 - 7 days of the week, has many health benefits.

Regular walking can:

  • Relieve stress
  • Give you more energy
  • Help you sleep better
  • Help you feel good about yourself
  • Strengthen your bones to reduce the risk of osteoporosis
  • Help reduce the risk of many other chronic diseases including heart disease and certain cancers.
