Halton Diversity Advisory Committee

The Halton Diversity Advisory Committee advises and assists the Region in raising awareness of issues of diversity in the community while promoting respect, access and inclusively for all Halton residents.

Specific activities include:

  •  Providing Regional Council, Regional Staff and Halton residents with opportunities to enhance their awareness and understanding on matters associated with access and diversity.
  • Sharing information and best practices on access and diversity matters with community organizations and related Regional advisory committees.
  • Responding to requests for comments for advice from Regional Council on diversity issues.
  • Establishing working groups with capabilities and resources, as required, to provide education on identified issues relating to access and diversity in the community.

Composition

The Committee includes:

  • 3 Regional Councillors
  • 1 representative from the Halton Regional Police Service
  • 1 representative from the Halton Multicultural Council
  • 1 representative from the Interfaith Council of Halton
  • 1 representative from the Halton Organization for Pride & Education (HOPE)
  • 8 citizens-at-large including citizens from each of the local municipalities

Frequency of Meetings

  • Quarterly, from 1 - 3 p.m., or as required.
