Why bring Household Hazardous Waste to Halton's HHW Depot?
Products that consumers buy and use everyday can be safe when used properly and the manufacturer's instructions are followed; however, when not disposed of properly, these same products can become harmful to people, animals and the environment.
So please remember...
- Hazardous products can and do mix when placed in the garbage truck. Just like the home, the mixing of chemicals can cause adverse reactions and this can lead to injuries to the people who collect your waste. For the safety of others, please ensure that these materials never make it into the truck!
- Hazardous products must not be landfilled at the Halton Waste Management Site.
- Household Hazardous Waste can result in the pollution of soil, ground water, rivers and lakes when disposed of improperly.
- Do not dispose of needles, lancets and syringes in your garbage, Blue Box, GreenCart, or yard waste. It is illegal and dangerous.
