SPLIT expands to Halton Hill residents

As of September 1, 2017, the SPLIT Pass program is available to eligible residents of Halton Hills.

What is SPLIT Pass?

For all residents of Halton Region

The SPLIT Pass program offers eligible low income Halton residents a subsidy for a portion of their local travel expenses.

Who is eligible for the SPLIT pass?

For residents of Burlington, Milton or Oakville

If you are a student, adult or senior in Halton living with a low income you may qualify for the SPLIT Pass. Individuals receiving assistance from the Ontario Works (external link) or Ontario Disability Support (external link) Program, government and privately sponsored refugees may also be eligible.

For residents of Halton Hills

The following individuals may qualify for SPLIT Pass:

What documents do I need to apply?

For residents of Burlington, Milton or Oakville

  • Your most recent Notice of Assessment from your tax return for all family members over the age of 18.
  • Government photo identification
  • Students must have a valid student identity card from the high school they attend.
  • Seniors must prove eligibility for the senior fare.
  • Proof of address in Halton Region.
  • Sponsored refugees must provide immigration papers.

For residents of Halton Hills

  • A registration card for the ActiVan or Taxi Scrip Program from the Town of Halton Hills.
  • Your most recent Notice of Assessment from your tax return for all family members over the age of 18.
  • Government photo identification
  • Proof of address in Halton Region. Sponsored refugees must provide immigration papers.

What happens after I call to apply?

For residents of Burlington, Milton or Oakville

  • Staff will contact you and advise what information you need to provide.
  • Once we have received your documents, staff will review them and let you know if you qualify.

For residents of Halton Hills

  • Staff will contact you and advise what information you need to provide.
  • Once we have received your documents, staff will review them and let you know if you qualify.
  • Your eligibility will be assessed annually.

What type of transit is covered with the SPLIT pass?

For residents of Burlington, Milton or Oakville

The SPLIT pass is only for public transit (buses) in Burlington (including Handi-Van), Milton and Oakville (including Care-A-Van). The SPLIT pass cannot be applied to GO Transit, taxi services, etc. SPLIT users in Burlington and Oakville benefit from a transfer agreement which will allow them to travel into Hamilton or Peel Region using “transfers” so long as the trip is completed within a 2 hour period.

Where do I go to get my SPLIT pass if I qualify?

For residents of Burlington, Milton or Oakville

If you qualify, you can proceed directly to one of the following pick-up locations to purchase your pass or tickets for Burlington, Milton or Oakville. The transit staff will issue you a reduced fare SPLIT pass.
