Halton Region's Economic Development Division received 2 prestigious marketing awards at the 53rd annual Economic Developers Council of Ontario (EDCO) Conference held February 2-4 in Toronto. Halton Region won for best Economic Development Annual Report publication as well as the top Newsletter Publication for its Quarterly reports. The annual Economic Review and Quarterly Reports highlight business investment and economic activity in Halton Region.

The EDCO awards ceremony honours winners and honourable mentions for their efforts in promoting their communities for location and tourism opportunities. Economic Development initiatives are also judged as part of the process. More Information.

Compliance with the Accessibility Standards for Customer Service (O. Reg. 429-07) by January 1, 2012 - Will you be ready?

The Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA) was passed by the Ontario legislature with the goal of creating standards to improve accessibility across the province. The AODA applies to both the broader public and private sectors.

The first standard to be enacted into law is the Accessibility Standards for Customer Service (O. Reg. 429/07).  The deadline for compliance with the standard for the broader public sector was January 1, 2010.  Private sector entities must comply by January 1, 2012.
