Calling New Parents - no longer offered

Calling New Parents

Here's why:

For more than ten years Halton Region’s Health Department has offered a weekly drop-in program named “Calling New Parents” within the community. We know parents now have many more options for information and support than they did in the past. Recognizing the changing landscape, we spoke with parents to better understand how they want to receive parenting information and support. In the process, we also reviewed all of our face-to-face and telephone parenting supports.

The Calling New Parents weekly drop-in program is no longer available.

  • We encourage you to participate in any programs because we recognize the value of personal connections with other mothers.

  • would like more information on a variety of parenting topics available to them.
  • want to receive timely information at their child's age and stage.

We have since responded with the:

  • Launch of HaltonParents: Monday to Friday access to a public health nurse (PHN) via Twitter, blogs, phone, email, and are planning to launch Facebook very soon.
  • HaltonParents e-bulletin: regular age and stage emails sent to subscribers (online subscription coming soon)
  • Increase in the variety of parent topics and resources available on the
