Halton Waste Management Site Advisory Committee

The Halton Waste Management Site Advisory Committee advises and assists the Region with respect to off-site impacts due to operations at the Halton Waste Management Site and the monitoring of waste haulage practices in the Region.

Specific activities include:

  • Making recommendations for the avoidance and/or minimization of off-site impacts from Halton’s Waste Management Site, as required by the Conditions of Approvals (Condition 6 under the Environmental Assessment Act).
  • Monitoring waste haulage practices with a view to improving general traffic safety as required by the Conditions of Approvals (Condition 5 under the Environmental Assessment Act).

 

Composition

The Committee includes:

  • 1 or 2 members of Regional Council, appointed by Regional Council
  • 1 member selected by the Town of Milton
  • 1 member selected by the Halton Agricultural Advisory Committee
  • 1 member selected by Conservation Halton
  • 1 member of Regional staff who performs the Environmental Inspector duties (as defined under Condition 3.6 of the Certificate of Approval under the Environmental Protection Act)
  • 1 member of Regional staff, selected by the Public Works Department
  • 5, preferably local, residents (as per Condition 6 of the Conditions of Approval under the Environmental Assessment Act), appointed by Regional Council

 

Frequency of Meetings

  • A minimum of twice a year, on the third Thursday of the month, 6:30 p.m., and at any other time at the call of the Chair.
