How do I know if adoption is the right choice for me?

Adoption may be right for you if:

  • You believe you should continue the pregnancy but cannot raise a child at this time.
  • You believe this child will have a chance for a better life in another family.
  • You are willing to get good medical care, go through labour and delivery of the baby and make adoption arrangements.
  • You can consider the feelings of your partner and your family but ultimately understand that a pregnancy option decision belongs to you.
  • You are willing to wait for another time to have a child to raise.
  • You can accept that there is a chance you may never see the child once he or she is born.
  • You realize there is a possibility the child may re-enter your life at a later time.
  • You are prepared to handle the emotional aspects of adoption.
  • It is also important to remember that prenatal care for yourself and your baby is important.
