Housing

Housing is a key component of a healthy, vibrant community. We need a range of housing options in Halton to meet the needs of people of all incomes and all stages of life. Halton Region provides a number of services and programs to help create a mix of housing types and affordability levels in Halton.

Emergency Shelter

The Emergency Shelter program may provide temporary crisis accommodations to Halton Region residents who are homeless and need emergency shelter that cannot be met through personal resources (financial, family and friends, available professional resources, etc.)

Subsidized Housing

Halton Region’s Subsidized Housing program, also known as rent-geared-to-income (RGI), provides safe, well-maintained rental housing for people with low and moderate incomes.

Housing for those with Special Needs

Housing for those with Special Needs, including youth, supportive housing for seniors, those with mental health issues, those who are developmentally delayed, physically disabled, require wheelchair accessible units, or other special needs.

Halton Community Housing Corporation (HCHC)

Halton Community Housing Corporation provides housing to families, seniors, couples, single people and people with special needs in a variety of housing forms including townhouses, apartments as well as single and semi-detached dwellings. Most of the housing is available on a rent-geared-to-income basis.

Housing for Seniors

Halton Region offers Housing for Seniors through a Supportive Housing Program and a Supports for Daily Living program which provide personal support by qualified staff.
