Mystery Artifacts/Artifact Detective

  • 20 – 30 Minutes
  • 50 people max.
  • Length of activity can be adapted to your break time.

Engage your meeting in a fun, interactive and educational artifact activity. Mystery artifacts will be placed on each table. Work with your tablemates to figure out what the object is. After all groups have had a chance to make their Artifact predictions, a museum educator engages the group in a rousing conversation.

The Alexander Family Story

  • 20 – 30 minutes
  • 50 people max.

This presentation will introduce you to the Alexander Family; 4 generations worked on this homestead from 1836 - 1961 and the significance of the Museum site. In addition, you will learn how to start your own family genealogy research project.

Museum Tour

  • 20 – 30 Minutes
  • 20 people max. at a time

A unique opportunity to see a rare collection of Halton Region's most prized and rare Artifacts - up close and in the open.

Halton Discovery (Scavenger) Hunt

  • 30 Minutes
  • Adaptable to all age groups.

Engage your team in a scavenger hunt around the farmstead. Learn the answers to questions that have puzzled you. i.e.: Why is this region named Halton?

Wonderful Water(30 Minutes)

  • Max. 30 people
  • Offered seasonally (April – June & September – October)
  • Program must be in conjunction with a Hearth Room Facility rental.

Learn how the Alexander's were innovators in sustainability and used water power on their farmstead. Then participate in a small study of our pond; identify the species that live in the pond, and learn about the environmental challenges they faced. 

Escarpment Discoveries

  • 3.5 Hours
  • Offered Seasonally (April – June & September – October)
  • For groups up to 60 (2 groups of 30)

A Museum Interpreter guides the group on a hike along the Bruce Trail.

Quarry Hike & Lime Kilns

  • 1.5 Hours
  • Moderately Challenging

A great team building exercise! Our museum educator guides your group on a hike along the Bruce trail to the lime kilns as well as the old abandoned quarry, while explaining the history of the Conservation Area and identifying points of interest.

Breathtaking Views

  • 1-2 Hours
  • Moderately Challenging

A Museum Educator will guide your group through escarpment trails to the lookouts; a perfect hike to view the flora, fauna, geology, glaciations, and climates of the escarpment.

The Amazing Geocache Race

  • 2-3 hours
  • Offered Seasonally (April-November)
  • Group split into teams of 2-6 people
  • Moderately challenging: Significant walking required

Do you have a group with a healthy sense of competition? Crave a little adventure? The Amazing Geocache Race is a teambuilding exercise like no other. We’ve combined the thrill of geocaching, a high-tech, outdoor treasure hunt, with a race around beautiful Kelso Conservation Area. Equipped with handheld GPS devices teams must navigate their way through the race encountering various ‘detours’ and ‘roadblocks’ that are designed to get teams thinking and working together in order to make their way to the final check in point. Only one team can win but all are sure to have fun!
