Excavation Permits

For Local Utilities or Contractors performing work for Local Utilities:

  • The Excavation Permit is referred to as a Municipal Consent (MC) Permit
  • The procedure for submitting an application is the same, however there are no fees. 
  • The Municipal Consent (MC) Permit will be faxed directly to the applicant upon approval.

An Excavation Permit allows contractors or builders to excavate within the boundaries of a Regional Road.

Application Procedure

  1. Provide 3 copies of your proposal drawing. Each drawing must be clear and legible. See Researching, Preparing & Submitting Your Drawing.
  2. Allow at least 30 working days for initial review of the application. The review time may be longer during peak months.
  3. Services Permit staff will contact the applicant when the application has been approved.

Application Fees

Application fees change annually.

  • Preliminary fees for your Permit: $5,635.59 ($5,306.00 of which is a refundable deposit)
    • NOTES: This is a preliminary fee only. The fee for your permit may differ from this amount. Do not include payment with your application. 
  • Payment Options: Cash, Credit card, Debit card or Cheque (American Express and Visa Debit cards are not accepted)
    • NOTES: Please make cheques payable to "The Regional Municipality of Halton". Credit cards much be present at time of payment. We cannot accept Credit card payments over the phone.
