Annual Oversize & Single-Trip Oversize/Overweight Permits

An 'Annual Oversize Permit' or a 'Single-Trip Oversize/Overweight Permit' is required to carry oversize loads on Regional Roads. These permits generally apply to transport and trucking companies and organizations. Applications for permits must be made in person, with listed documentation, by someone authorized to sign.

The applicant is responsible to ensure that permits are current. There is no formal notification of upcoming permit expiry.

Annual Oversize Permits

The Application Process

Please call to schedule an appointment to create your permit. You must physically come to the permits counter to create your permit. The permit itself is not created until it is paid for and signed by your representative. Please do not mail or courier your payment, nor fax your documents, as it is not a requirement to fax us anything. Sending by fax will not create your permit.

These are the permitting requirements:

  • A signed original Certificate of Insurance, which states a minimum of $5 million liability coverage and specifically naming the Region of Halton as 'Additionally Insured'.
    • NOTE: Having the Region named as 'Additionally Insured' is different than just 'Certified to' the Region. If the Region isn't specifically named as Additionally Insured, or you bring us a photocopy or fax, we cannot issue your Permit. Even if your insurance is still ‘good from last year', please bring to us a hardcopy, as we are unable to transfer the Certificate from your last year's Permit.
  • A complete list of all vehicles, make, model, VIN and license plate numbers.
  • If you are renewing a permit, provide a copy of that permit, or at minimum providing the permit number is required.
