When should I cut my grass?

  • Grass cut grass at a height of 6 - 8 cm (2 1/2 - 3 inches) will develop stronger roots, grow thicker and help the soil stay moist.
  • Cut lawn only when it is dry.

When should I sharpen my mower blade?

  • Sharpen your mower blade in the spring and keep it sharp.
  • Grass recovers more quickly and easily from a clean cut.

What should I do with grass clippings?

  • Leave grass clippings on your lawn after mowing.
    • Clippings break down, slowly releasing nutrients into the grass.
    • Under wet spring conditions, remove thick layers of clippings (over 0.5 cm thick) to avoid smothering your grass.
