Housing for those with Special Needs

Mental Health

Domiciliary Hostels
Halton Region has service agreements with four Domiciliary Hostels which provide residential care, on a long-term basis, including board and lodging, to:
  • People who are living with severe and chronic mental illness and/or cognitive difficulties/impairments
  • Seniors who are frail
  • People with developmental disabilities
These homes provide 24-hour supervision and supports to vulnerable adults who require some assistance with activities of daily living.
Please contact the domiciliary hostels directly regarding specific rules for eligibility and their particular requirements for how to apply.

Supportive Housing for Seniors

Supportive housing helps seniors to live in their own apartments. There are six apartment buildings in Halton where you can get Supportive Housing.

In Supportive Housing you can get help with everyday things like preparing meals, taking a bath, getting dressed or being reminded when to take your medicine. If you complete the Supportive Housing Application Form, the Supportive Housing Provider will evaluate your needs.

    Youth (15-18) who are unable to live with their parents for many reasons.

Other Needs

  • Grace External Link
    Adults with a social disadvantage, or who are at risk, and are willing & able to establish goals & work towards independent living.
  • Halton Recovery House External Link 
    Men recovering from the effects of alcohol and/or drug addiction, between the ages of 25 and 60.
