Halton Region provides waste collection to the publicly-funded school boards that operate within Halton Region:

  • Halton Catholic District School Board
  • Conseil scolaire de district catholique Centre-Sud

Blue Box

Halton Region provides Blue Box recycling to all publicly-funded schools in Halton. 

GreenCart

Halton Region provides GreenCart composting to all publicly-funded schools in Halton.

Halton Region is the first municipality in Ontario to have every publicly-funded school participating in a GreenCart composting program.

Halton Region's GreenCart School Program has been recognized by the Canadian Network for Environmental Education and Communication (EECOM) with an Award of Excellence in Environmental Education.

Waste Collection for Community Events

Halton Region can provide waste collection tools and assistance to ensure recycling and organic material generated at community events be diverted from landfill.

Guidelines for Available Waste Diversion Services at Community Events

The purpose of these guidelines is to:

  • Outline the services Halton Region is able to provide to public community events.
  • Ensure consistent service levels are provided to all events.
  • Specify the roles and responsibilities of the Region when providing waste diversion assistance to public community events.
