Background

The properties which are subject to this application are located in Part Lot 1, Concession 2 NS, former Township of Trafalgar, in the Town of Milton. The properties are identified in the Location Map.

The applicant is the Catholic Cemeteries of the Diocese of Hamilton, but the proposed development is for two adjacent cemeteries and related ancillary uses including a crematorium. The first cemetery (located furthest to the west) would be operated and maintained by the Milton Cemetery Company (12 ha) and would consist of a public cemetery and associated ancillary uses. The second cemetery would be operated and maintained by the Catholic Cemeteries (41.2 ha) and would consist of a Catholic cemetery, related ancillary uses (office and service buildings, chapel, mausoleums) and a crematorium. It is proposed that the Catholic Cemeteries would use the existing home on the subject lands for their office.
