Notice of Application for a Quarry License

An application has been made for a Category 2, Class A Quarry Below Water license, by Dufferin Aggregate, in the Town of Halton Hills. The application has been made under the Aggregate Resources Act.

A detailed site plan and report(s) for the proposal are available for public viewing at the local or regional municipal offices or at the district office of the Ministry of Natural Resources.

Anyone wishing to object to the application, was required to do so in writing by Friday, June 18, 2010. Objections were to be filed with the applicant and the Ministry of Natural Resources:

The PIC was held to update the public on the Technical Review of the Acton Quarry Application and JART Process to date, as well as discuss next steps.

Background

A Joint Agency Review Team (JART) has been established to review the application once it has been submitted to the Region.

JART members for this application include:

  • Halton Region
  • Town of Halton Hills
  • Credit Valley Conservation and Conservation Halton
  • Ministry of Natural Resources
  • With the Niagara Escarpment Commission as Chair.

Staff of the Region of Peel are also monitoring the application due to haul routes through Peel.

The JART team has met several times to discuss "terms of reference" for the studies, which will be submitted as part of the planning applications. They have also visited the property.

An aggregate advisor, Steven Rowe, has been retained to assist JART.

Peer review consultants have been selected to assist JART with the review of the various technical studies.

Joint Agency Review Team Report (February 2012)
