Corporate Administration

Halton Region was incorporated in 1974 by the Province of Ontario. In the late 1960’s, the Province saw the need to strengthen the County form of government by making services formerly managed by the Province of Ontario more directly accountable and accessible to the residents and taxpayers.

Today, through its departments, Halton Region provides such services as:

  • Children’s services
  • Economic Development
  • Emergency medical services (ambulance)
  • Emergency preparedness
  • Income & employment services
  • Land use planning
  • Ontario Works (social assistance) 
  • Public health services
  • Regional museum
  • Regional roads
  • Seniors’ services (including long term care homes)
  • Sewage (treatment and disposal)
  • Water (treatment , supply and distribution)
  • Waste (collection and recycling)

Halton Region is composed of the City of Burlington, the Town of Halton Hills, the Town of Milton, and the Town of Oakville.
