Volunteer with the Breastfeeding Connection

The Halton Breastfeeding Connection needs additional volunteers! To sign up, call 311 or 905-825-6000 or email Michelle at michelle.griffin@halton.ca.

To be a volunteer we ask that you:

• Have breastfed for a minimum of 6 months.
• Have a positive feeling towards this method of feeding.
• Attend a 4 hour orientation session to learn more about us, to update your knowledge of breastfeeding, and how to provide telephone support.

As a telephone support volunteer you will:

• Contact the mother prior to delivery.
• Provide support on a regular basis after baby comes home.
• Use the Client Contact Record to track information.
• Submit information to the Halton Region Health Department.
• Attend update sessions as required.

We also have space on our Advisory Committee which:

• Assists with training and updating our volunteers.
• Organizes special events (e.g., World Breastfeeding Week celebrations.)
• Meets monthly (times and locations are flexible!)
• Monitors functioning of the Halton Breastfeeding Connection and advises regarding program changes.
