With the holiday season just around the corner, I know many residents are getting a head start on shopping. This year has been difficult for many of our local businesses and while I want to encourage everyone to choose shopping online over in-person at the many big stores and malls, I also want to encourage everyone to support our local Halton businesses. Many stores have adjusted their services to keep their staff and patrons safe, such as online and phone orders, curbside pick-up and delivery and it is important that we support these businesses now more than ever. If you do visit a store, please be sure to follow all the store rules and directions.

So whether you are ordering a meal, supplies for your home, gifts for the holidays or the weekly groceries, call ahead or order online and arrange for curbside pick-up or contactless delivery.

While it is important to continue supporting our local businesses, I ask residents to use caution during the pandemic and only visit stores in person when you really need to. If you are shopping in-person for essential goods and services, please follow all public health measures. This means:

  • maintaining a 2-metre distance from others;
  • wearing a face covering or non-medical mask; and
  • following any in-store rules.

Many Halton businesses have implemented additional guidelines to keep their patrons and staff safe during the pandemic—please remember to follow them and to be respectful and supportive of one another during these difficult times.

Thank your continued efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19 and supporting our local businesses. Your commitment to the community and each other is keeping Halton a great place to live, work, raise a family and retire.
