LEAP helps parents under 25 complete high school, identify a career goal, develop parenting skills and get a job.

LEAP program criteria

The Learning, Earning and Parenting (LEAP) program supports Ontario Works participants who:

  • are parents 25 years old and younger; and,
  • haven't graduated from high school.

LEAP program benefits overview

LEAP helps them complete high school, identify a career goal, develop parenting skills and get a job.

This program is:

  • mandatory for Ontario Works parents who are 16-17 years old, and
  • voluntary for those who are 18-25 years old.

Financial help is also available for transportation, child care, recreational programs, school registration and supplies.

Students who complete the LEAP Program are also eligible for a $500 bursary. The money is intended for further education or to invest in a Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP) on behalf of the child.
