Youth Entrepreneurship Programs

Halton Region Small Business Centre helps young entrepreneurs explore and start new businesses!

Our programs are designed to offer support, training, mentoring and the potential for financial incentives.

We offer an excellent selection of business planning and start-up resources. Connect with one of our experienced business consultants, who are also available to provide resources to local teachers and conduct in-class presentations on youth entrepreneurship and other business topics.

Halton Industry Education Council (HIEC)

The HIEC is a joint venture between industry, education and community partners in Halton. The organization is non-profit. Their goal is to encourage career education and create opportunities for youth.

Python's Pit (external link)

Python's Pit is a program through which aspiring young entrepreneurs can pitch their business concepts and product ideas to a panel of real business moguls. Presenting ideas in front of a live audience, participants gain speaking skills and confidence. Finalists learn and grown through mentoring, and can receive capital, scholarships, in-kind assistance, and mentoring if they are brave enough to face "the Pythons"!

Halton Skills Competition

The Halton Skills Competition offers students in grades 4 - 12 the opportunity to demonstrate their technical skills in a friendly competitive environment. Students may demonstrate skills in a wide variety of categories, including carpentry, electronics, fashion design, graphic design, home building.

Bay Area Science and Engineering Fair (external link)

The Bay Area Science and Engineering Fair is a four-day science fair competition for students in grades 7 - 12. Students from Hamilton, Halton Region, Haldimand County, Norfolk County, Brant County and Six Nations can win medals, prize money and scholarships.

Ontario Centres of Excellence (OCE) (external link)

The Province of Ontario supports young entrepreneurs through the OCE. These offer a wide range of programs to enterprising students and youth across Ontario.
