On September 12, Halton Region sent a questionnaire to local Federal election candidates asking about their positions on five issues of importance for Halton residents. Voters can now read responses from many of the candidates on halton.ca, and the Region will continue to post new responses as they are received.
“I would like to thank the candidates who shared their positions for helping our community make an informed decision at the polls,” said Halton Regional Chair Gary Carr. “I hope everyone who is eligible to vote will take the time to do, and I encourage residents to learn where candidates stand on these important topics so they can vote with confidence on October 21. We look forward to working with the elected MPs to preserve the high quality of life in our region.”
Halton’s questionnaire asked candidates what they would do to:
- invest in roads and infrastructure;
- confirm Regional and Provincial regulatory roles in the proposed CN truck-rail hub;
- address climate change and support community resilience;
- deliver universal access to broadband internet; and
- support safe, affordable and accessible government-assisted housing.
The questionnaire also asked if they would vote against their party if necessary to reflect the best interests of Halton residents. To learn more about these issues or read candidate responses, please visit the Federal election page on halton.ca.
