Regional Chair Gary Carr: Supporting growth with new police station in Halton Hills

May 08, 2024

On May 8, we broke ground on 1 District, a new police station in Halton Hills! The brand new 66,000 square-foot state of the art station will serve the community today and into the future.

We were also joined by Regional Councillors Clark Somerville and Jane Fogal from Halton Hills.

Halton is one of the fastest-growing communities in the country and we are always looking toward the future. Based on the Provincial Government’s goal of building 1.5 million homes, Halton’s population will reach approximately 900,000 people by 2031 and to almost 1.4 million people by 2051. This is why we are making these important investments and building the infrastructure needed to support growth.

The 1 District Police Station is one example of how we are delivering high quality infrastructure and maintaining our excellent services. This new station will support our Halton Regional Police Service partners as they adapt to our growing and changing community.

Halton’s police officers and civilian staff work alongside other first responders 24 hours a day, seven days a week to keep us safe. Thanks to the incredible efforts of our police service and their continued collaboration with the Region, Local Municipalities and community partners, Halton remains one of the safest communities in Canada.

We’re also building a new street extension, new streetlights and sidewalks, and new landscaping along the boulevard.

Thank you to Regional staff supporting the construction of this project. Congratulations to everyone involved. Together, we help keep Halton a great place to live, work, raise a family and retire.

Construction is expected to be complete in 2026. To learn more about the Halton Hills 1 District Police Station, visit halton.ca.
