Halton's Paramedics are here for you
Halton’s Paramedics are highly skilled medical professionals with an unmatched dedication to serving the community and saving lives. They work 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to provide life-saving emergency care to residents in Burlington, Halton Hills, Milton and Oakville.
Halton has more than 300 paramedics and 30 ambulances and response vehicles, operating out of 15 ambulance stations located across the community. Every year, Halton Paramedics respond to more than 60,000 calls and transport nearly 36,000 people.
Paramedics treat patients on the scene and life-saving treatment continues on the way to the hospital. Their training, medical expertise and collaboration with hospital emergency rooms ensure that those in life-threatening situations receive the best possible care.
Halton Paramedics are dispatched by the Mississauga Central Ambulance Communications Centre, which uses the Medical Priority Dispatch System to prioritize calls based on the medical situation. If you call 911 with a life-threatening medical emergency, you will receive help first and as fast as possible.

Working to keep Halton Paramedics safe at work
Almost every day, a Halton Paramedic will report abuse and violence they’ve experienced at work. From intimidation, assault, harassment and verbal abuse, paramedics are frequently subject to violence while trying to provide essential medical care. When a paramedic experiences violence or abuse it can significantly impact them at work and at home.
We have a zero-tolerance policy for violence directed at paramedics. When violence or abuse occurs, paramedics can call police for assistance—we work closely with our partners at the Halton Regional Police Service to ensure all Halton Paramedics have access to support when they need it.
Planning for the future
The demand for paramedic services in Halton is estimated to rise by 4.7 per cent each year between now and 2034. Our 10-year Paramedic Services Master Plan (PDF file) will help us maintain our level of service as the region's population ages and grows.
