The approval and availability of COVID-19 vaccines is an important step in our collective response to stop the spread of the virus. While it is a light at the end of the tunnel, we must keep our guards up and continue practicing all public health measures that remain in place.

More vaccination options in Halton!

There are currently 19 pharmacies offering the AstraZeneca to individuals aged 55+. The AstraZeneca vaccine is safe and effective in preventing severe illness and complications from COVID-19. Booking through a pharmacy is also another option for eligible residents to get their vaccine and gain protection from COVID-19 as soon as possible. Earlier appointments may also be available through this program.

COVID-19 Vaccination Status

Halton is currently focused on vaccinating priority populations as identified by the Province.

  • Mobile teams of Halton Region Public Health and Halton Region Paramedic Services staff began vaccinations for residents, staff and essential caregivers at long-term care homes, retirement homes, and other prioritized congregate living settings on January 11, 2021.
  • Halton Healthcare established a COVID-19 Vaccination Centre at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital and began vaccinating long term care and high-risk retirement home staff and prioritized healthcare workers on December 22, 2020 and essential caregivers in early January.
  • Halton Region Public Health began running COVID-19 Community Clinics to vaccinate priority populations on March 6, 2021.

Halton’s COVID-19 vaccination program remains contingent on supply. As more vaccine becomes available, we will continue to roll out the vaccine to priority populations as quickly as possible.
