Picture yourself stepping into your dream home knowing that essential services like reliable roads, high-quality drinking water and wastewater collection and treatment are ready and waiting. In Halton, that dream is becoming a reality thanks to proactive planning and smart investments.

Ontario’s housing crisis demands bold action, and Halton Region is ready to deliver. With a growing population and rising housing demand, the need for new homes has never been more urgent. The Province has set a target to build 1.5 million homes by 2031, with Burlington, Halton Hills, Oakville and Milton pledging to deliver a combined 92,500 housing units. But building homes isn’t just about development, it requires critical infrastructure to support thriving, sustainable communities.

Backed by Billions: Halton’s Financial Edge

Halton Region’s strong financial standing and well-established relationships with developers provides the stability needed to support large-scale development. With a AAA/Aaa credit rating and a $9 billion 10-year capital plan, Halton is making strategic investments to ensure new homes can be built efficiently and sustainably. The region is ready to support the housing pledges of the local municipalities with 90,663 already in the development approval pipeline. Additionally, 2,095 hectares of greenfield land have secured water and wastewater servicing capacity, streamlining the process for future housing developments.

From Blueprints to Backyards: Fast-Tracked Homebuilding

What does all this investment mean? It means Halton is shovel-ready to support the housing pledges, and that developers and builders won’t have to wait for infrastructure to catch up. With roads primed for paving, water and wastewater services secured, and financial backing to support expansion, Halton is accelerating the process of turning blueprints into homes. Thanks to proactive planning and early investment, communities can take shape faster, delivering much-needed housing for families, young professionals, and future residents eager to call Halton home.
