Study

Halton Region is initiating a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment Study, for a New North Regional Road corridor between Fifth Line and Sixth Line from Britannia Road (Regional Road 6) to Steeles Avenue (Regional Road 8) in the Towns of Milton and Halton Hills. The need for a new corridor was identified through the 2011 Transportation Master Plan – The Road to Change to support future travel demand.

The study will examine a wide range of road improvements including a new corridor. In addition, improvements will consider active transportation, traffic and intersection operations, structural, drainage, and cross-sectional requirements. Social, cultural and environmental impacts of the improvements will be assessed and evaluated through the study.

Process and consultation

The study will be carried out in accordance with Schedule C of the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (October 2000, as amended 2007, 2011, 2015 and 2023), which is an approved process under the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act.

Public and review agency consultation is a key element of the process and input will be sought at key milestones throughout this study. Details regarding upcoming Public Information Centres will be posted to our website as the study progresses. Upon completion of the study, an Environmental Study Report will be prepared and placed on the public record for a minimum 30-day review period. The document will detail the planning and consultation process and the preferred alternative for the corridor.
