Immunization of School Pupils Act

ATTENTION: The suspension date for Halton students born in 2006 and 2007 is Wednesday, March 27.

Halton students born in , and whose immunization records are not up to date, will not be suspended from school in the current school year.

To end the suspension, you must update the student’s immunization record with Halton Region Public Health or receive the missing vaccinations.

How do I update a student’s immunization record with Public Health?

Follow these steps:

  • Step 1 – Gather the following documents:
    • The student’s immunization records (e.g. paper documents showing vaccines they received; the yellow Ontario immunization booklet; copies of international records). If you cannot find records, you may need to contact the student’s health care provider to get the information.
    • The student’s Ontario health card (if available).
    • Any letters that were mailed to you by Halton Region Public Health, including the Order for Suspension from Attendance at School.
  • Step 2 – Report all the student’s immunizations to Public Health by 1 p.m. on suspension day.
    Report student immunizations to Public Health in one of the following ways:
    • Report online:
      View immunization records or report immunizations
      For students who are 16 or older or those having trouble logging in to the online reporting system (ICON), please call 311 or bring your records to Halton Regional Centre at 1151 Bronte Road, Oakville.
    • Report by phone: call 311 to speak with a Public Health Nurse.
    • Report in-person at Halton Regional Centre located at 1151 Bronte Road, Oakville.
    IMPORTANT: Students whose records are reported after 1 p.m. on suspension day will be admitted back to school on Tuesday, April 2.

Where can a student get missing vaccines?

If the student has missed any of the required vaccines that are indicated on the Order for Suspension from Attendance at School, they can go to one of the Public Health Community Immunization Clinics available and .

School and community immunization clinics

  • Halton Region Public Health will be returning to schools beginning for school immunization clinics for grade 7 and 8 students.
  • Community immunization clinics from will be walk-in only, with limited capacity.
  • Students born in can catch-up on missed doses of vaccines at community immunization clinics that will be scheduled in .
