To make sure our community is prepared and resilient to more frequent and severe wet weather, Halton continues to offer support for residents with the cost of home improvements that can help reduce the risk of basement flooding. Our Enhanced Basement Flooding Prevention Subsidy program provides financial support and access to licensed professionals so you can protect your home.

Homeowners can apply for one or more of our subsidies to get help with the cost of:

• Downspout disconnection: 100 per cent of all eligible costs to disconnect your downspouts from the weeping tile system, up to a maximum of $500.
• Sump pump installation, combined with weeping tile disconnection: 100 per cent of the combined eligible costs to install a sump pump and disconnect weeping tiles, up to a maximum of $5,000.
• Backwater valve installation: 50 per cent of the eligible costs to install a backwater valve inside your home, up to a maximum of $675.
• Sewer lateral (pipe) lining or repair: 50 per cent of the eligible costs to repair or line your sewer lateral (pipe), up to a maximum of $2,000.
