Part of being a healthy school includes promoting healthy relationships, positive self-esteem and healthy living skills. Providing curriculum supports, supportive social and physical environments, and resources on healthy relationships, self-esteem and living skills can provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to make healthy choices.

Teachers and school staff can use the following resources to help promote healthy relationships, self-esteem and living skills that will help create a supportive environment for students.

Elementary

  • Go Girls (external link)
    This is a group mentoring program for girls ages 12-14 that focuses on physical activity, balanced eating and self-esteem. The goal of this program, delivered by Big Brothers Big Sisters, is to build positive self-image. Big Brothers Big Sisters (external link).
  • Game On! (external link)
    This is a group mentoring program providing boys and young men with information and support to make informed choices about a range of healthy lifestyle practices. This program is delivered by Big Brothers Big Sisters.
