Purpose:

To complete an environmental assessment to plan for the Lower Base Line wastewater pumping station and associated forcemains to support future growth in Milton and Halton Hills.

Scope:

Halton Region will examine a range of options to identify the preferred location for the Lower Base Line wastewater pumping station and alignment for the associated forcemain (which will carry flow to a gravity trunk sewer). Site locations and forcemain alignments will be identified and evaluated with a focus on:

  • capacity requirements;
  • feasibility;
  • schedule deliverability;
  • environmental impacts and mitigation measures;
  • land acquisition;
  • coordination with ongoing and future projects; and
  • financial implications.

This Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (MCEA) Study will be carried out in in accordance with the MCEA Study Process (October 2000, as amended 2007, 2011 and 2015 & 2023), which is an approved process under the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act.

Public and review agency consultation will be carried out throughout the MCEA study. Upon completion of the Study, a Project File Report will be prepared to document the decision making process and consultation undertaken through the study process.
