Purpose

To identify the preferred upgrades for the Mid-Halton Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) that will increase treatment capacity from 125 million litres per day (ML/d) to 175 ML/d to service and support growth by 2031.

Scope

During this study, the project team will:

  • review options to upgrade the WWTP to service growth;
  • evaluate alternative concepts for achieving the required wastewater treatment capacity;
  • assess the impacts and identify mitigation measures;
  • consult the public and review agencies; and
  • prepare the Environmental Study Report for review and approval.

This study will be carried out in accordance with Schedule C of the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (MCEA), (October 2000, as amended 2007, 2011, 2015, 2023 and 2024), which is an approved process under the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act.
