Notice of Public Information Centre #2: Municipal Class Environmental Assessment Study - Mid-Halton Wastewater Treatment Plant Expansion

About the study

Halton Region is undertaking a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (MCEA) Study for capacity upgrades to the Mid-Halton Wastewater Treatment Plant to support future population and employment growth to 2031 and beyond.

As part of this study, we have examined several design concepts to expand and optimize the Plant. The social, cultural, and environmental impacts of the improvements have also been assessed and evaluated.

Process and consultation

The study is being completed in accordance with Schedule C of the MCEA process (October 2000, as amended 2007, 2011, 2015, 2023 and 2024), which is an approved process under the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act.

Public and review agency consultation is a key element of the MCEA process. An initial public consultation was held in Summer 2025 to provide interested parties an opportunity to review and comment on the study findings so far. We are now holding a second consultation to receive feedback on the preliminary preferred design.

We want to hear from you!

Anyone with an interest in this study is invited to share their feedback during the online consultation period:
