Halton staff raise over $92,000 for United Way

Mar 19, 2025
Presenting the cheque from the 2024 staff fundraising campaign to United Way.
Left to right: I am joined by Cyndy Winslow, Commissioner of Finance, Bob Gray, Acting CAO to present the cheque for the 2024 campaign to United Way Halton & Hamilton representatives, Brad Park, President & CEO and Valentina Ellis, Manager of Resource Development.

For more than 30 years, our team at Halton has organized a campaign each year to raise funds for the United Way of Halton & Hamilton (external link). I am immensely proud to share that our employees raised over $92,000 as part of the 2024 campaign! Earlier today at Council, I had the honour of handing over the cheque to United Way. This donation will support critical services that remove barriers and create positive change for children, youth, adults and seniors in our community.

Many of the programs funded by the United Way strongly align with services we provide that support community safety, health and well-being. We know first-hand how difficult it can be for people and families who are struggling to pay the bills as costs continue to rise. We know the challenges people are facing when it comes to housing, employment, mental health, and food security. This is why our employees feel passionate about supporting the United Way each year.

I want to thank Brad Park, President and CEO of United Way Halton & Hamilton and his team for all the incredible work they do each day in our community. From after-school programs and mental health services to skills development training and social programs connecting seniors, United Way is transforming lives. Their support of the non-profit sector and leadership at various community roundtables is also integral to their mission to improve lives, build community and ignite action.

I was happy to pick up my hockey stick to raise funds for United Way at the UW BBQ.

Regional staff raised nearly $7,000 in the annual 5K walk/run for the United Way.

Thank you to all our amazing volunteers on the United Way Committee for your dedication. We received the UW Game Changer award again this year, which is a testament to all the hard work you put into the UW campaign each year. Thank you as well to everyone who donated and participated in the 2024 campaign. Since 1991, Regional staff have raised over $3.6 million! Your vital support is helping people live, grow and thrive in Halton.
